Stauntons' garden leads onto the Victorian Iveagh Gardens, an expanse of leisurely walks and greens. The building embodies Georgian elegance and style, and proffers a most inviting atmosphere. Here at Stauntons, guests are given absolute comfort and privacy, coupled with immediate access to the heart of Dublin.
St Stephens Green leads onto Grafton Street, Dublin's pedestrianized shopping area. Stauntons is only 5 minutes on foot, from the Houses of Parliament, and is located in the heart of Dublin's business and banking district. All of Dublin's entertainment, historical and cultural centres are easily within walking distance of this unique accommodation.
Originally a terrace of 3 Georgian houses, Stauntons on the Green was constructed in approximately 1750. Ownership dates back to the National University, who extended the university campus to the property, and used it as accommodation for students, and also to accommodate archives. The university subsequently moved to Earlsfort Terrace, and the Catholic Church sold the property on to the Dunloe Property Group. This group could find no viable commercial use for the property, and it was then acquired by its present owner in 1992. At this point the building was restored to its original architectural beauty, and it remains a building of unique, spacious, relaxing rooms and wonderful vistas of Dublin's city parks.
Stauntons on the Green is located on St. Stephens Green. Grafton Street, Dublins main shopping area, is 5 minute walk away. Temple Bar is a 10 minute walkaway. Our central location affords our guests easy access to all Dublin City's attractions.
