Ireland certainly knows how to celebrate its patron saint's day and Dublin is the focal point of the country's revelry every year.
Music, dance, comedy and almost every other art and drama form fill the streets of Dublin from March 15th to 19th every year in celebration of St Patrick and this always lively city becomes a hedonistic, exciting place to be during the event.
Far more than simply an opportunity to drink Guinness - although there is plenty of that to do, too – the St Patrick's Day Festival in Dublin runs for five days and is the country's largest celebration.
Over 1.5 million people cram into the city centre to join in the fun and take part in the most remarkable atmosphere that the city offers.
The highlight of the event, however, is the St Patrick's Day Parade, which snakes noisily down the famous O'Connell Street and lasts for a full three hours. There will be local and international Irish bands playing and plenty of street performers, as well as plenty of exuberant and colourful costumes on show.
